Hi there!

Amanda here with you today to show you a little step-by-step layout I put together using some of the gorgeous products from this months Candy Dreams kit.  If you don't want to miss out next month be sure to visit the Polly Store and shop 'til you drop for kits that suit any budget or project (hello Project Life fans!)...

I loved the Amy Tangering corrugated cardstock that came in this months kit - this has to be my fave colour in the world too.  I got some white cardstock to put over the top of the teal - I trimmed about 1" off each side of a sheet of white cardstock and adhered it with double sided red-tape (ultra-sticky).


I immediatley loved this chevron patterned paper too - the romantic, girly colours in this paper were a perfect match for my photo of Miss K from her Christmas kindy party last December... I trimmed the paper to fit the white cardstock (2" off) and I used the B side of chevron paper (the dark blue paper sticking out from the title) to make my planned title stick out.


I sewed around the photo and then started adding some stickers here and there - I love how the colours of the kit go together perfectly.


Time for some little flyers and MME Enamel dots (I love these!) here and there all over the page...


Next I was wanted to customise my thickers - I got out some adhesive, glitter, a brush and removed the adhesive from the back of the letters...


With a small brush I added adhesive to half the letter so I could still handle and dip them into the glitter without getting glue and glitter all over my hands (paint I don't mind so much!).




Once the tops have dried go back and repeat the same steps on the 2nd half of your letters.


I've been getting into playing with paint quite a bit lately ... meet my new BFF, Matissa Acrylic pain (Titanium White) which you should be able to pick up at your local art store.


I put a little (a little goes a loooong way) on a wipe-friendly surface and dabbled a little on my finger - channel your inner child! - ready to apply to my layout edges.


I then rubbed some along all four edges of the corrugated paper.


I added some pow from my stash - this is a Flourish with a Bling Jasmine Puffy Flourish (not included in the kit).


Now that the 2nd part of my letters are glittered up and dry I've glued them into place and pressed down flat for 30 seconds with a ruler.




I made the dark paper a little thicker in the end - the title didn't quite fit on my original peice of backing.  Now the title was in place I found there was too much space.  I added some home made Mr Huey's (white with a drop of Plumb Thumb), but still needed something else so I decided to play with the AC Taffy Glitter Tape - punch, punch!  This little heart punch is my favourite.




And finally I added one last little sentiment with the punched glitter tape... :D


And here's the finished layout... ta-daaa!

Hi Polly! Scrap fans!

Amanda here today to share what I've been creating over this lovely long Easter weekend.  I had a chance to get some scrapbooking done using the awesome Shoreline kit that was released last Friday (and sold out super fast!)... I hope you got your kit and feel inspired to share your creations in the Polly! gallery.


I coloured my anchor with a black Copic marker so that it blended in more with my page, the stripes were gorgeous, but a little too loud for this particular layout...


I also loved playing with the little pegs and pockets that came in the kit.  The colours in this kit were completely out of my comfort zone - but I love a challenge - and ended up aquiring a few new fave colours during this experiment!  I used the washi tape to frame my picture funky-polaroid style.


And I loved the suite of chipboard buttons that came in the kit (these came with the anchor I used in the title) ... I've never met a cuttable button I didn't like. :)

The end of the week is finally here, and hopefully that means a little down-time for our lovely blog readers!  I have a step-by-step to show you today using the Polly! Colour My World kit and I hope it inspires you to get crafty this weekend.

I must admit, I was a little spoilt for choice when I pulled everything out of my kit this month. Could I say maybe a little too spoilt??!  Anyway, I spread out the papers I thought I would like to use with my photo - I always look at what colours are in my photo, then pick my papers to match some of the colours.  In case you were wondering the photo has been edited in Photoshop using some texture overlays so it is already ... boy-ishly distressed.


Lots of cutting up ... I have layering in mind, and I want to use all these different patterns in my layers.

Now I'm a little more organised - I am pretty sure I can handle all these cuts. Let the gluing begin.

I love making layers behind my photo's (as many of you would already know).  I love the photo being the focus of my pages, therefore I always find myself propping it up off the page with layers of paper, 3D glue dots and more layers.

This little sentiment from this page of cardstock was one of the first things that got my attention, and I knew right away that it would be part of my layout. I dusted off my Making Memories corner chomper and rounded the two top corners - and had an instant tag.




Next I got out my ruler and measured up for a frame - this is where I'm going to use my Washi tape from the kit to frame my layered photo.  The Washi is going to be a slightly darker wood grain than my paper, but still subtle enough that it's not going to be the only thing you see on the layout.

At this point I had decided 'Yep, that frame is too subtle!' For a little more pop I cut down and added the Hambly paper to the background, but stepping back I still wasn't sure I was happy with this either...

To make the edges of the Hambly blend better with the Washi border I used a sponge to add some ink to the edges of the papers ... let's see it this works out.

I added some messy stitching (intentionally of course), my Hambly paper is adhered into place and I am happy with how the clouds now popped off the paper with a little ink added...

Next I added my photo, and set to work with the title.  Before I settle on a title I always make sure I have all the letters I need. :)  I like to lay everything out on the page, estimating where it will go, and then press the letters into place working from the outside to the middle, and even then some letters need adjusting.  Luckily Thickers are quite easy to move around a couple of times.  If all else fails they are also very easy to carefully stitch into place with your sewing machine.

I used the Bingo chips for a very deliberate embellishment triangle. :)

Next I got out my Crop-O-Dile and turned the name tag into a journal tag.

I originally added some of the pom pom ribbon to the card, but switched it up for the blue twine at the last minute.  The method to my madness here is that you can pull the journalling tag out from wherever it happens to go - I'll tuck it behind my photo panel somewhere.

I made a pocket out of some scrap cardstock, making the edges flat using a folding tool... this will protect my tag from all the adhesive I have already put under my photo panel (not too much planning happened today with this layout!).
