Good morning Polly fans,

Kate here to start the morning with a layout of my son, using the divine (and so far my favourite!) Spearmint Leaves kit. Sadly, it's sold out, or I would grab another one myself! When I saw a gorgeous layout from Kayla, which you can see here, I knew that I wanted to try to scrap lift it. So, on National Scrapbooking Day, when I was busy scrapping with Carol, I decided to give it a go. And here is what I came up with.


When I first saw the colours in the kit, I knew that I wanted to scrap these photographs of my middle son, Luca. There were taken about 18 months ago, but I love the expressions on his face. And those eyes!! But when I was looking at the photos, I just couldn't choose a favourite, so I decided to go with both, and turn it into a two photo layout. I was really inspired by the diagonal line of Kayla's layout (and I'm still tempted to add some of those gorgeous wood veneer stars to the page too!) So I played around until I was happy with the placement of the photos & the leaves to create that diagonal flow. I also loved the title on the side. I really love how that looks. I didn't want to add too many layers, as I really wanted the photos to be the centrepiece.

And then came the fun part. The stitching. You see, I haven't sewn for about 20 years, but as I was over at Carols, I had access to a machine. So I went for it. Let's just say it provided us with some laughter, and quite a bit of unpicking was required! But I love the final look to the layout, with the stitching around the edge and the stripe of transparent trees sewn directly to the photo.

 When I posted a photo of this layout into our DT group, Ruth instantly said that she wanted to lift this one. And so the DT Lifting Chain Challenge was born! I think it might go on for a while! And so now, I'll hand over to Ruth to show off her lovely lift of my layout!

I'm here to show you a couple of fun layouts I made using the March Spearmint Leaves scrap kit.

I've been watching a lot of Jen Gallagher videos and tutorials lately, and I was so inspired by the way she makes simple layouts look so fun and inviting, that I wanted to give it a go.


This page is SO different from my usual artsy, layered, mixed media style, but I had a lot of fun making it.

I hope I've inspired you to have a go at trying something out of your ordinary!

Hello there Polly! peeps!!

It is Bernii Miller here with you today to share with a quick and fun little layout I made using the March Spearmint Leaves main scrapbooking kit.


At first I was going to create a layout using one of the fun Amy Tangerine Plus One papers, but at the moment I am really enjoying building my layouts based on white card stock. This allows me to add a lot more colour and layering into my layout, with out is being distracted by the back ground paper. And if you have seen the Plus One collection most of the papers are wonderfully bright and might become a little too overbearing.

So in my true style I dragged out my water colours, gesso and even my lemon drop dazzlers and created a back ground that I knew would compliment the papers in the kit. I am not sure what it is but I tend to go back and forth between cleaner layouts and more mixed media influenced ones.

Then while I was waiting for my  lemon drop dazzlers  to dry I pressed in some of the cute as pie wood veener stars.


Then in stead of just mounting my photo on a plain white mat I layered a heap of the papers from the kit. I even snuck in a doily from my own stash. I am really loving those at the moment. Then I could not go past not adding the exclusive acrylic house chip from Amy Tangerine.

I absolutely loved the Spearmint Leaves kit that you can see in the shop here (unfortunately sold out). This is my second page from the kit and I used a more muted colour theme for this one, but as I say in my video I see a lot of similarities in the design of the two pages which seems a bit odd as I wasn't even thinking about it at the time, I guess I was just on a roll and that design worked.

I have taken to grabbing white card stock as a base for everything lately. I feel that it works to 'ground' a layout design really well. I grabbed some white card stock, vellum, a doily and some wood dots out of my own stash to complete this page.

This is my second layout out of the kit and there is honestly enough of the kit left to make another one if not two pages. It was a great kit full of well coordinated and scrumptious scrapbooking goodies.

On the blog this morning we have Guest Designer Allison Payne joining us with not one, not two but SIX projects created from the March Spearmint Leaves kit!!

Hi I am Allison and I have been paper crafting for many years now. I live in Hobart, Tasmania having moved here several years ago and love it! I teach primary and enjoy my job along with renovating, cooking and of course crafting!

Currently I love making cards for all occasions. I find the small card face great for smaller paper pieces and embellishments and enjoy thinking up creative ways to fit elements onto the smaller format. It is for this reason that I also enjoy the whole move to project life scrapbooking its fast and fun and with work taking up a lot of my time I needed a quick way of putting pages together that would be less work.

I also scrapbook in A4 size or the old 11 x 8 which is almost the same. This size is smaller, more challenging in some ways and the albums can fit on a standard bookcase much easier! I also have to think more carefully about how I am going to tell the story on the pages rather than just fill with product for the sake of using up the space LOL !  I was very excited when I discovered the poly scrap kits both the project life and the main kits have just what I need to complete projects and everything is coordinated together so I don't have those moments of procrastination as I scour the shelves of archived goodness.

For my guest design spot this month I have use the March Project life kit to create 4 cards. I like to layer papers and have used the word stickers and alphabets for the sentiments. I started with the words and worked out what theme I wanted each card to be about and then sorted parts of the project kit to match. I try not to embellish the cards very much so that they fit into the envelopes OK. I really like to use geometrical blocks or shapes for card fronts and loved how the colours and patterns worked so well together. These four cards really just scratched the surface there is still so much left I could dozens more.






I found that the design pieces in this kit also went perfectly with a photo I had of my niece so it also put together an 8x11 page. I usually find myself assembling the page glue free with as many elements as I can and then removing them until I feel I have the perfect fit. I enjoy journaling and sometimes my page is just that no photos depending on what I want to tell a story about. I also like to use different coloured pens to border the page. I did this on pink and added smaller hearts that complimented the stamp. The stamp set that came with the kit was awesome and I loved the speech box and the ability to use a variety of words. This one will be used again for sure. The little arrow stickers also make a great border.




I also used elements from the March Main Kit to create my page "Festivale". This page is the beginning of a series about our trip to this festival and lucky for me the theme of the kit really matched the event which is set in the gardens and quite colourful. Again I cut strips of pattern paper to form geometric shapes across the page and complimented this with the stickers. The cutlery embellishment was a sweet touch so too were the tiny stars which helped to frame the photo. 



It has been a pleasure as a guest this  month and feel very privileged to share some of my pages and cards with everyone.

This month's kit included a few things that can stretch further than these layouts, particularly the sticker book which is simply PACKED with stickers, I used them with total abandon on this layout, bordering the top and bottom with them in a bright profusion of colour, yet there are still simply tonnes more to use. I am trying to make as many layouts as I can with my kits, to show how far they stretch and because I loved Gypsy's guest post earlier in the year where she made so many that I was super inspired.
My second layout is on a kraft base, I alternate between loving a neutral cardstock to start from and loving a patterned paper to begin. I see from these two layouts that I must be leaning towards the neutral start at the moment, it is so funny how you can see trends in your own crafting much better when you stop and look at the last few things you made, because while I am creating I often am oblivious to such things!

This layout is about the bridal shower I went to for my sweet cousin Kate, who is the kind of hostess I wish I were but am pretty certain I will never be. She really gets how to make the details into reality, she thinks it through and works on all those little touches that combine to make quite the experience. Her bridal shower tea was like walking into pinterest for an afternoon of doily banners, layer plates of goodies, chalkboards with peg banners for us to leave her a recipe on and lovely sweet sequin sprinkles. Very girly fun.
The last one (so far), heavy on my beloved Amy Tangerine, is about our visit to a local show that is a bit like a low key Easter Show, with animals, rides and showbags, cuddling baby chicks and learning about the country. I love these city kids of ours to get a regular glimpse at where things come from, touching animals and seeing how things are made from scratch, otherwise it can be such a bizarre world where everything comes from the supermarket with no context at all.

Carol again, here with a dilemma I am going to go out on a limb and state that most, if not all, scrapbookers have faced at least once in their crafty career!!

DILEMMA: "I have this gorgeous 12x12...it's double sided...and I LOVE both sides BUT only have one sheet.  What do I DO?  How do I decide WHICH SIDE to use??"

SOLUTION: "Create a double sided layout!!  Use both sides and it's a win win.  You don't have to sacrifice one side for another AND you stretch your stash a little further!"

Totally LOVE that base card stock from Amy Tangerine's Plus One Collection.  It's called Party of Two.  Here's a closer look:


See my dilemma?  Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!!  I didn't want the other side of my card stock disappearing in my album.  Here is the layout I created on the back of "You love me like XO".


I aso had loads left of my Spearmint Leaves and Jellybeans kits to add a little dimension to the layout.

Hi everyone!

It's Carol here, welcome to my very first blog post and share ever!

Do you ever feel that music says what you feel so perfectly that you don't need any other commentary?  I do, lots!  Beyonce's song 'XO' is no exception.  My favourite line in this song translated my feelings perfectly and became the title for my layout.


I am using bits from both SOLD OUT Spearmint Leaves and Jellybeans kits for my take on Kate & Lauren's Sketch Challenge. Here is the sketch for those of you who need to see it again!

I adore Amy Tangerine and this layout is ALMOST exclusively uses product designed by her, including the acrylic flair designed especially for Polly!  I used the underside of the flair for my layout, the pink was too bright for the look I was wanting to achieve, black was just right!


I'm a 12x12 girl.  Always have been, but won't always be it seems.  I am also a scrapper who loves simple clean lines (with a little bit of cheek!).  This sketch was perfection to me and the layout took me about 15 minutes to whip up!

Hi everyone, it's Sandra here today with a layout using March Scrapbooking Kit Spearmint Leaves. Sorry ladies (and gents?), these are all sold out, but I know there are plenty of you with this kit as it sold in record numbers. That probably has something to do with it being Amy Tangerine's Plus One collection that I am seeing everywhere right now. But I digress, so let's get into it.



I decided to have a play with Kate and Lauren's Sketch Duet challenge this month. To refresh your memory, here's what the sketch looks like


Being a traditional 12x12 scrapper, my first challenge was to make it square whilst still filling the page and keeping it balanced. I chose to rotate the sketch as I prefer to work side to side rather than top to bottom in symmetrical layouts. This meant I had to choose a portrait oriented photo, and this one of my baby son starting childcare worked perfectly with the playful papers in the kit. What a bonus that his Tshirt was the same colour as the aqua Plus One paper! I think I have to stock up on a few of those!

I thought about getting out the sewing machine to make those vertical (or in my case horizontal) lines running across the page, but then I saw the hearts on the Basic Grey paper and chose to split it up and layering the paper back together carefully. Or.... not so carefully. Don't look too close, but if you did, you'd notice that the bottom row of hearts (the red row) is actually split off from the blues. I was originally going to have 2 rows top and 2 rows bottom, but it was just looking too symmetrical for me personally, so I added an extra row to the bottom. It can be our little secret, ok? ;)

The most obvious change to the sketch is the circles... yup, mine became triangles. I decided to use them to create a type of arrow pointing towards the photo. {If I can be completely honest, I was just too lazy to pull out my circle cutter} At that point I flicked through the leftovers from older Polly kits and found some Heidi Swapp embellishments, which I just adore and use every chance I get. However that then led me to the new Heidi Swapp collection (this is exactly why it takes me way too long to finish a page). The big star screamed out to me, as I could then repeat the star shape with the wood veneers from the Polly kit. I also continued with the arrows scattered across the page - all pointing towards the photo (I knew there was a real reason I changed my circles to triangles!). I finished with the gold geo-tag and the Amy Tangerine exclusive flair, and couldn't help but add some doodling here and there also, to further create a playful tone.



Possibly one of my favourite elements of the kit this month are the wood veneer stars - they fit into each other! That gave me even more variety when sprinkling them around the page. Love, love LOVE me some stars!

Oh, one other thing you'll notice.... there's no title specifically. The journaling just ended up taking too much room. And despite the gorgeous Heidi Swapp phrases, I decided to call this layout "First Day at Childcare" and squeezed it into the top left after removing an embellishment. It might not stand out, but I've convinced myself it's ok!
