Fave Photo layout using January Almond Biscotti by Sandra Bunch

It's Sandra bringing a "happy happy happy" layout to you today, using Polly's January Almond Biscotti kit. I do love how Ruth puts together such colourful collections, but never goes over the top with it all.

To be honest the first thing that caught my eye in the kit was the watercolour Basic Grey paper, but when it came to choosing my photos, I couldn't go past this one of my kids that's been lying in my pile for way too long. And I just couldn't make the watercolour paper and the photo work the way I wanted it to, so I moved right along to the aqua and white diagonal that perfectly matched my son's onesie, and gave a softer effect which matched my story better. I thought I'd use repeating elements of 3 throughout the layout, given that it's of my 3 kids - and the Happy Happy Happy custom Polly shaker pocket worked perfectly with that idea! I used the confetti paper to frame the photo and also tie in with the sequins in the pocket.

I used the twine that Ruth so lovingly wraps the kit embellishments in as the strings for the feathers, giving a slight dream catcher effect. There was just enough twine to give me 3 lengths for the 3 feathers! To add some extra colour to the wood veneers around the page, I stained them with Heidi Swapp Color Shine - by simply opening the tube and using the end of the nozzle hose as a paintbrush. This is one of my favourite techniques for applying a lot of colour without the hassle of grabbing out my paintbrush and cleaning it. Am I seriously that lazy?! it appears so :S For anyone interested, I used Mustard & Gold Lame, Pink and Mint Green. And no page of mine is complete lately without some ink splatters, so I did those at the same time.

The rest of the layout came together so easily, just by grabbing random pieces from the kit. Although, one thing was pestering me about the layout.... It was one of the rare times that I struggled with a title, and for a long time I was just going to let it be Happy Happy Happy... BUT I do so love to intertwine my title with the journaling, so I sneaked it in at the very bottom right. I love love love these Thickers, but they just weren't standing out enough, so I backed them with a double layer of the gold polka dot washi tape. The washi again repeats the "confetti" look, and appears in each embellishment cluster around the page, giving cohesion.

To finish off, I simply added some doodling around the page. You can see I added it to the "hello" cloud, the wood veneer feathers and birds, journaling card, Heidi Swapp "favourite" tag. I really feel it just ties in the hand-drawn style of elements and makes them feel more at home on the page. And...voila!

The best news, is that I still have plenty of my Polly kit to use, so stay tuned for possibly more projects. Bye for now!

By the way.... anyone with multiple children including babies or toddlers ... please put me out of my misery and tell me it's not just me who has a hard time getting photos of all kids being smiley-smiley for the camera at the same time?! If you have any tips PLEASE pass them on :)
