Hello Week 12...

09:00

I hope you all had a lovely Easter long weekend and maybe even got a chance to squeeze in some scrapping ;)  We spent the time with family and after all the the festivities were over I managed to document week twelve using the sold out 'Courageous' Pocket Life Kit.

After printing out my photos from the week I noticed that they featured quite a random mix of colours and that none of them really matched each other. To tackle this, I decided that I would use a common element to help tie the pages in together and was inspired by the gorgeous feathers in the February Embellishment kit to create a set of custom water colour cards to use as backgrounds for a couple of the pockets.

I cut down a couple of sheets of water colour paper and ran these through my cuttlebug using the fun Amy Tangerine 'Rise & Shine' embossing folder to create some texture. I gathered some 'Mix & Match' Metallic Gelatos in the melon and mint colours along with champagne gold from the Gelatos Essentials - Gold & Silver pack. There are several different methods to apply and blend the Gelato colours onto your projects and each method gives you slightly different results, so it's just a matter of playing with them and discovering which look you like best.

To create a soft shimmering watercolour look I rubbed the pigments onto my craft mat, then used a water brush to pick up the colour and apply it onto my paper. I found that lightly wetting the paper before applying the pigment helped to create a nice even blend and that cleaning out my brush between each colour helped to prevent the colours from looking cloudy as they mixed together.

I selected neutral toned cards from the kit and paired these with gold foil accents and applied some of the Gelatos pigment onto the feather pieces for a shimmering effect that would help them to tie in with my custom backgrounds.

You can find the gorgeous feathers and all the fun Gelatos in the store, and don't forget to use the code 'AGNUS10' at the checkout to save 10% off your order.
