Sketch Duet Revisited - AND A GIVEAWAY!!!!!

Hi everyone, Lauren here! Guess what? I’s still hanging around here at Polly! and I will be popping in every month on the Polly! Blog, showing you my take on the latest goodies in both Pocket Scrapbooking and more traditional layouts.

Today in this post not only do I have a special guest joining me, the lovely Kate from the Polly DT, but, Kate I are also revisiting a sketch duet! Kate and I are working with a Sketch Duet that Kate first worked with in February. This sketch is so versatile so I was keen to make something with it, plus I also wanted to show you that a Pocket Scrapbooking kit also provides you with the versatility of making both Pocket and traditional scrapbooking layouts.

Not only are we revisiting the Sketch Duet but I also revisited one of my all time favourite Polly! Kits - Rainbow Paddlepop! This kit is the best, so many bright colours – the paper, the embellishments and the pocket page cards! It is exactly my style. Love it! I can’t believe that there are still some of these kits available! Make sure that you head over to the Polly!Shop and snap one up! You won’t regret it!

I knew that I wanted to do a traditional layout with this sketch but I couldn’t decide what paper I wanted to use – I loved them all! So, inspired by Kate and her love of the circle punch, I punched out a heap of circles and layered them to make the top and bottom circles. I then hand stitched all of the lines in the sketch – I love hand stitching, not only for the look but also for it’s therapeutic value! Once I had done this I layered some papers, added a photo, a title and a small cluster of embellishments! Done!

I then turned my mind to incorporating the sketch into a pocket scrapbooking layout. That is the great think about sketches is that they work perfectly in a pocket!

As you can see I kept the hand-stitching theme and carried it through to the card – this card was one of the 3x4 cards in the kit. I often use my traditional layouts as an insert in my Project Life album, so I like to use the same papers and techniques.

The thing that I loved most about this kit was the exclusive Amy Tangerine acrylic camera embellishment! So cute! I just mounted it on some of the fun paper and stuck a heart sticker on it. I wish I had a million of those cameras! (hint hint Polly!)

This layout was great fun to make, not only did I have a fantastic week to document that was full of fun but I also had loved all of the papers and embellishments which worked so well on the spread. The pocket also meant I could do some hidden journaling too – a girl can’t reveal all her secrets!

Happy weekend! I really enjoyed playing with this sketch again (perhaps it is my obsession with the circle punch! or anything circular if the truth be known!). So, of course, I was happy to play again! 

For my first project, I made a card - and well, to be honest, I played with the sketch a little. I concentrated on the circular & label shapes, and die cut a lot of paper from the Rainbow Paddlepop kit, using some dies from my stash. I assembled the die cuts to form a semi circle on the left side. The label is a printable & the sequins, flair & butterfly are from previous Polly! kits. I keep a container of all my past Polly! embellishments that I haven't yet used - it's the first place I look for something!

For my PL card for the sketch, I again rotated it & went looking for some supplies! I had been hoarding some of the Printshop paper from the January Raspberry Shortcake kit (loved that kit!!) & I had a little left of my February Salted Caramel Icecream kit. I've also started to play around a little with water colouring (in this case using Mr Huey's mists with a  water colour pen). I decided to feature some water colouring, as well as add some embellishments from the Feb kit & the Feb printables. 

Like I said, one sheet of paper, lots of printables, an alpha, some stamps & a couple of embellishments. And some ink. Lots of ink!
